Unseen Blessings

Layer
Upon layer
Upon layer
Upon layer
Of Your blessings
Like a cloak cover my head and shoulders

Like a veil color my view of life
Translucent, shimmering
And bright
Star-studded shawls of light
Whisper-weight and
Woven from the silent lace
Of deep delight
Till my ‘here and now’ take flight
And I, a fisherman,
Cast my net
To draw in the slippery fish
Of each moment’s bliss
To fold in as many shells’pearls
Of happiness
To wrest each joy laden hour
Of all it holds.
Layer
Upon layer
Upon layer
Of Your blessing
Like many veils
Upon me fall
Silent
As flakes of snow at night
Gentle
As summer’s breeze at break of light
Soft
As a sleeping newborn’s steady breath
Sweet
As wafts of lemon blossom’s scent…
Layer
Upon layer
Upon layer
Upon layer
Of Your blessings:
Wrap me in content.

  1. i am overwhelmed with the beauty and truth of this poem. mashaAllah! what a beautiful site this is, every corner of it and every word it offers to the visitor. A very generous website – like a hand extended to assist another.

    “Cast my net
To draw in the slippery fish
    Of each moment’s bliss”

… i love the image those words elicit, beautiful.
